Mazda CX-5

The CX-5 is excellent. It offers interiors from a class above, has a full suite of active safety features as standard, and is luxurious enough to qualify as a luxury crossover SUV as well. Apart from all of that, it is also fun to drive. The steering and handling are surprisingly responsive. Cargo space is limited, but it’s still one of the best cars to buy.

Volkswagen Tiguan

This is one of the biggest compact crossover SUVs. It even has a tiny third row. The 184hp engine may feel underpowered, but it offers a smooth and fuel-efficient experience. The ride is also extremely comfortable. Keep in mind that cargo space is limited if you’re using the third row, but otherwise, it’s on par with the rest of the segment.

Honda CR-V

You can’t go wrong with this one. It has mature driving characteristics with a versatile and feature-packed interior that offers the best in the crossover segment. It’s passenger and cargo areas are spacious and very comfortable. There’s a hybrid version that offers better fuel efficiency along with the all-wheel-drive system.

Toyota RAV4

This popular crossover SUV gets an improved, practical interior and sharper driving dynamics. It even has a hybrid variant that’s a little more powerful and much more efficient than the standard version. There’s even a plug-in hybrid version that offers 40 miles of all-electric range. Otherwise, the engine churns out a sportscar-acceleration beating 302hp along with an energetic engine sound.

Nissan Rogue

The new Rogue gets a lot of detail and refinement along with a better seating position, nicer interiors, and a long list of standard and optional features. The only engine on offer is a 181hp 2.5L four-cylinder that’s faster and more fuel-efficient than the former powerplant with a highway economy of 32mpg. The engine is also more refined, and the CVT has been sharpened up as well.
