Lordstown Motors Endurance
This EV startup is planning to launch the Endurance pickup around late summer 2021. The Endurance will use motors mounted at each wheel hub to reduce the number of moving parts. The design maximizes traction while reducing maintenance costs. It’s aimed at construction, farm, and fleet users and even has bed-mounted 120V outlets for power tools. The range is expected to be around 250 miles, and the four motors should produce 600hp for blistering performance.
Tesla Cybertruck
Never before has there been a truck like this. The top-trim version is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds, while the base version will do it in 6.5 seconds. The expected range is between 250 and 500 miles depending on the model. In place of a bed, it has a high-walled vault with a garage-type roll-up cover. When properly equipped, Tesla claims the Cybertruck will tow up to 14,000 pounds.
Rivian R1T
The R1T promises big numbers – 400+ mile range, 750hp, and 0 to 60mph in 3 seconds. It has a four-motor electric drive system with a max towing rating of 11,000 pounds and a 42.7-inch water fording capability. It has a weather-sealed gear tunnel that spans the width of the truck and has access doors at each end between the cab and bed.
Ford F-150 Electric
America’s top-selling vehicle is getting an electric version. It’s set to arrive in 2022 and is expected to use the F-150’s existing lightweight aluminum construction and current body design. Ford is also expected to reuse as much of the existing trucks’ parts as possible to keep redesign costs low.
Ram 1500 TRX
Finally, something old school. In 2021, the Ram 1500 will get the full Hellcat treatment and go from 0 – 60mph in 4.5 seconds. It will pack a 702hp 6.2L supercharged V8 along with active suspension dampers in an all-new independent front suspension. All four corners will have over 13 inches of suspension travel.
